Charity Quilts

Nicole & Chelsea helped stitch up and trim half a dozen flannel baby quilts.

Each year the local high school FFA (Future Farmers of America) club partners up with the local quilt guild to make charity quilts.  This year's materials were donated by Riley Blake Designs.  Members of the guild will prepare about 80 quilts for the kids to tie, by using the "Envelope" finish.

Jordan will demonstrate. (Pictures from 10 years ago...)

1)  STITCH two layers of fabric together, leaving an 8" to 10" opening for turning.

2)  LAY OUT fabric over batting, trim to size.

 3)  STITCH quilt to batting over the previous stitching lines.

4)  TURN the quilt right side out.  Use the "No-Clip Corners" technique demonstrated in this video:

5)  HAND-STITCH the opening closed.  The quilt is now ready to tie!
